Digifest is the University of Houston's premier Digital Media senior portfolio showcase, held every spring semester. This event offers graduating students a unique opportunity to present their portfolios to industry professionals and potential employers. As part of this project, I was tasked with developing a comprehensive identity system for Digifest, encompassing an announcement card, a poster, an access card, and a bifold brochure. These elements needed to be visually cohesive, reflecting a unified design language.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The project began with an extensive brainstorming phase, where I delved into the provided documentation to identify key themes and concepts. I researched relevant quotes and crafted a strong project narrative. Following this, I created a mood board and initial graphic concepts, ultimately deciding to center the design around an abstract representation of a camera lens. This symbol not only captures the essence of Digital Media but also incorporates the names of various departments within the program.

DESIGN EXECUTION

In the composition phase, I ensured that the graphics, color palette, and typography were consistently applied across all materials to create a harmonious and unified system. I employed design principles such as parallel structures, Gestalt theory, typographic hierarchy, negative space, repetition, alignment, and contrast to enhance the overall layout and aesthetic.
